How do I get a library card?
Stop in at your local Plum Creek library and ask to sign up. The card is free. You will need to fill out a Plum Creek Library System application form and present a photo ID. Children will need a parent or guardian to sign the application form. Print out an application form. Espanol

What is my password?
Your password will be given to you by your local library. Please write it down and keep it in a safe location.  If you have difficulty accessing your account, please contact your local library.

How do I access my online patron account?
In our online catalog, go to the right column of the page. Enter your 14 digit PCLS library card barcode and your password. Click Log in. You will see all of the materials you have checked out and when they are due. If you ahve any items on hold, a hold tab will appear next to the Checked out tab at the top of the list. click the Holds tab to check the status of your holds. On the left side of the page you can click the my fines tab to see if you owe any fines and what items the fines are associated with. Click on the my personal details tab to make changes to your home address, telephone number, or email address. Your home library will receive an email contating these changes and will apply them to your account. Click on the change my password tab if you want change your password for this account. Please remember to write your new password down if you change it. Library staff are only able to reset your password, they cannot see what your current password is. Click the my messaging tab to select what type of notices you awant to recieve.when you are ready to leave the site, click on the orange Log Out button on the top right corner of the page.

How do I find books online?
You can search for books and other materials using the gray search bar at the top of the page. Enter a title, author, or a subject into box and click the blue button on the right of the search box to search the entire PCLS catalog. You can also search by author, title, subject, or ISBN by using the drop down list between the search box and the search button.  Click Advanced Search to do more detailed searches, such as searching by item type, shelving location, or searching individual libraries.Serch button image

How do I reserve books online?
Log into your Plum Creek Library account using the the Login box in the right column of the Home page.  You can search for materials by using the gray Search box on the Home page or click on Advanced Search and search by Author, Title or Subject.  Advanced Search also allows you to search by material type (book, DVD, audio cassette).  Once you have found an item you want to reserve, click the Place Hold link in the gray box on the right of the screen. On the Place Hold screen, verify that the library listed in the Pickup Location column box is the library you want to pick up the item; the default selection is your home library (where you registered and received a library card).   It is VERY IMPORTANT  that you verify the LOCATION here. When finished, click the Place Hold button and you will be returned to the my summary page and the Holds tab will be highlighted, showing the item you have on hold and your posotion in the holds queue.  To place a hold on an item from a specific library, first choose that library from the list below the search box on the Home page.  You can also choose a library in the Advanced Search screen.  Next, do your item search.  The search results shown will be from the selected library only.  Click the Keep button to the right of an item to enter the item into a saved list to view later. You can access this list by clicking on the Kept link on the green navigation bar above the Search Results . Holds from this list must be placed on the individual item; you cannot place holds on all items in the kept list at once.   

Do you need a hold to go into effect on a future date? Do you no longer need the item on hold after a certain date?
If you want the hold to begin on a certain date in the future, click the icon below the Hold starts on date box and choose your beginning date from the popup calendar. If you will not need the item after a certain date, click the icon below the Hold not needed after box and choose your date from the popup calendar. Your hold will be removed from the holds queue on that date.

How do I renew books online?
You can renew books in your online account .On the my summary page of your account, click on the blue Renew link for each item you would like to renew. You can also click on the Renew All button at the bottom of the list to renew all of your items at once. If an item says Not renewable, you have no renewals left on that item. Please contact your local library for assistance.

How do I return Items?
You can return items to any Plum Creek member library, regardless of where the items were checked out.

How do I get a book I can't find in the PCLS catalog?
You can search the MnLINK Gateway, which will access most Minnesota libraries, including public library systems, public and private colleges and universities, schools, and state agencies. Use the Get It button to the right of the item title and log in with your PCLS library ID, PIN/password, and select the location where you would like to pick the item up.
